An introduction to Sponsorship/Marketing Opportunities and Volunteer Support requirements in association with the “tulip 2008” events during April and May 2008

In 2008, Spalding will be hosting the 2008 World Tulip Summit. At the same time the town will be celebrating its own 50th Tulip Parade, and the combination of these special calendar events will provide a once in a life time opportunity to make the area of South Holland and The Fens the centre of national and international media attention. Combining these two unique events with a range of other activities under the banner of a six week “TulipMania Festival” will provide a wide selection of options for potential sponsors to consider.

The PR and marketing opportunities associated with the region falling into the world spotlight for just a few weeks should not be underestimated, and those involved with the planning of “tulip 2008” are seeking support from a range of commercial sponsorship partners, community groups and voluntary organisations to maximise the benefits for all those involved and to help stimulate new investment which would provide valuable legacy benefits to both the community and the economic outputs of the region.

This introduction describes in outline what opportunities have been identified so far, and whilst the list is by no means complete, it does incorporate some of the major elements required to make the whole event both successful and financially sustainable. Some of the sponsorship will be designated as “match funding” to assist groups and organisations in making grant applications from funding agencies. This will ensure they can achieve the best results from their participation and a greater sense of achievement for all those involved.
